Dear brothers
and Sisters,
Assalamu

Re: REPORT
ON FLOOD RELIEF WORK IN KURNOOL, MAHABUBNAGAR AND RAICHUR DISTRICTS.
As you are
aware that the recent floods =n the above districts caused heavy damage
and made many people homeless.
Realizing
the immediate support to these flood victims, we have taken up the distribution
of food items i.e., breads, biscuits, water packets and other food items
in Kurnool and Mahabubnagar districts =rom the very next day of floods
for 3 days in the effected villages.
The Flood
Victims lost everything and here shifted to Flood Relief Camps. We prepared
Flood Relief Family Kits containing new clothes, bed sheets, buckets,
=tensils, and also tarpaulins for construction of temporary shelters,
each kit costing Rs.1,500/-. We have distributed 3663 Flood Relief Family
Kits in 25 villages and 14 areas in Kurnool town and Kurnool district,
Mahabubnagar and Raichur districts in Karnataka. A total expenditure
of Rs.42 lakhs (US$:90,000) has been incurred for this relief work.
We have also
envisaged the survey for re-establishment of businesses of the petty
traders and propose to give interest-free loans through Micro-Finance
Project. We are planning to cover at =east 200 businesses in these villages
with an estimated budget of Rs.50 lakhs (US$: 109,000).
The students
in these villages are given note books as they lost their books also
in the floods. We propose to give special scholarships to these students
and wish to cover maximum number of students, by =educing the eligibility
criteria from 65% to 55%. The Budget estimated for the special scholarships
is Rs.10 lakh =US$: 22,000).
We convey
our sincere thanks to all those who participated in this noble cause
and pray Allah (SWT) to reward them suitably for their kind gesture.
Few photographs are enclosed.
Sincerely,
Ghiasuddin

Dear brothers
and sisters,
Asslamu alaikum.
Re:
Flood relief in Kurnool and other districts of Andhra Pradesh.
We
invite your kind attention to the media reports regarding the sudden
and unprecedented floods that marooned a number of villages in Kurnool,
Mahaboobnagar and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh. Continuous
heavy down pour since last two days worsened the situation and people
belonging to Kurnool town are the worst effected, as they are cut
off from Hyderabad and other places, and lost the communication also,
due to non functioning of mobile phones and failure of electricity.
As per the reports, the flood waters entered Kurnool town to a height
of more than 15 feet and thousands of people climbed to the tops of
building roofs and crying for help and rescue.
Some
of the victims are shifted to safer places and the remaining people
are being shifted.
The
immediate relief required for these victims is supply of food and
drinking water since they are starving for the past two days. It is
estimated that about 2.5 lakh people are effected in Kurnool town
alone and hundreds are missing.
In
view of the gravity of the situation, we have immediately geared up
our net work of offices and instructed our staff to take up relief
operations. Since the road way to Kurnool town from Hyderabad is cut
off, we have taken up supply of relief material like breads, biscuits,
milk, water packets, banana fruits, and other required items for the
victims of Kurnool town, from Anantapur, which is 150 KMs from Kurnool.
We have also started supply of food items from our Yemmiganoor office
to Mantralayam (distance 15 KMs) and the surrounding villages, which
are also submerged in the flood water. We are also planning to get
these items from our office at Nandyal town which is about 90 KMs
from Kurnool.
The
situation in other places is also taking a serious turn because of
the flood water now started entering in villages of other districts
mentioned above.
Since
immediate relief operations save many lives, we appeal you to take
part in this noble cause and send your contributions by way of personal
cheques favouring FOUNDATION FOR ECONOMIC
AND EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT and mail them to the
above address. You may also send your donation online through our
website: www.feed-hyd.org by using your credit card.
We
request you to pray Allah (SWT) to save the lives of the flood victims,
and look forward for your response.
